To best serve our clients, Steel Nation is made up of three synergistic divisions: Steel Nation Buildings, Steel Nation Facilities Services, and Steel Nation Environmental.

As the Facility Services Technician for Steel Nation, you will perform maintenance and repair work at a Journeyman level on pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB) - to include Electrical (if qualified), HVAC (if qualified), roll-up and man doors, etc. Projects may include managing and supervising subcontractors and other entities related to the facility.

What will I do?

  • Read and interpret specifications, drawings, sketches, and manuals to determine required materials and complete project scope.
  • Take measurements and calculate materials required to complete project.
  • Inspect products and conduct repairs or maintenance as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on PEMBs such as fixing structural damage, installing metal sheeting and trim, and door repair.
  • Maintain and repair building ventilation equipment to keep fans functioning properly.
  • Fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power tools.
  • Inspect PEMB, Man Doors, Roll Up Doors, Ventilation Fans, Fencing for damage.
  • Oversee subcontractors throughout the construction process, including but not limited to: Addressing performance and quality issues; Enforcing safety policies and procedures; Monitoring and addressing behavioral issues; Communicating project objectives and changes with subcontractors.
  • Move necessary materials around jobsite as assigned and clean up jobsite debris.
  • Promote safe working practices and enforce safety protocol including accident avoidance, required PPE, training and education regarding Steel Nation and client safety policies and procedures. Ensure that subcontractors are observing safe practices.
  • Lead and participate in weekly job site meetings.

What will make you a good fit:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Commercial or Industrial construction trades; experience performing routine commercial or industrial building maintenance is a plus
  • Ability to perform work at a Journeyman level in areas such as HVAC and/or electrical is ideal
  • Previous experience operating onsite equipment such as aerial work platform and forklift; licenses ideal or may be provided by company
  • Hands-on expertise with basic handheld tools, along with electrical/battery tools such as Sawzall, drill and grinder
  • Position requires frequent work with heights
  • Ability to work consecutive nights out of town approximately 25%
  • Individual must be able to frequently lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • OSHA 10- hour Certification, or ability to obtain
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
